    Except that when pressure tested to failure, brazed systems blow first every time (not in the joint, but in the adjacent heat affected copper). Contaminant issue may be real, but “brazing is stronger” is an absolute myth.

    I'm sure this is the correct way to do it. However, someone who hasn't got a recovery tank or a scale doesn't really have this option without shelling out hundreds of dollars. It's going to cost more than the compressor is worth for me to call a tech. So I fumble forward and add refrigerant.

    $12,000 is steep for a furnace I’d do $4500-5,000 but if it’s a furnace+evap then $7500 is more than reasonable. If cond + air handler(furnace) then $12,000 is more than reasonable If refr lines and ductwork were included as well then you’re looking at $20,000-35,000 depending on how your house is set up

    This guy is truly annoying, nothing but opinions. "I won't mention" blah-blah. Daikin is Japanese company and as Japanese company they are good. But most of the stuff is still made in China pretty much like everybody else. Your own personal experience doesn't count, that is what is called anecdotal. "They honored warranty when they did not have to"? Really, be more specific instead of pulling statements like this out of your behind. "some other company treated me ..." blah-blah "I won't mention it" blah-blah. This guy is in HVAC business only 3 years, do you really believe he has solid experience he can draw on? Most of his videos are useless blabber without specifics.

    I have a Carrier heat pump, registered with 10 yr warranty, still under. No problem for 5 years. A/C stopped cooling, called installer, very nasty, not the original ppl. Replaced part, reimbursed, under warranty. Less than 4 weeks later stopped cooling again. Called different nicer ppl company, outside unit, replaced part, charged me. When I called them back regarding reimbursement for part cst, they said they because they were not installers they would not honor warranty. Is that right?

    Got to size your A/C to the load factors also. My house is under-sized for the sun exposure it gets, the lack of insulation between the thermal mass of the brick walls, and window leaks. To right size you need to run the ASHRE calculations, and many HVAC people won't do them, because it's kinda complex and time-consuming to figure out how much cooling capacity you really need for a building.

    • @NewHVACGuide
      @NewHVACGuide 2 дня назад

      Other than that, you can just Google it and see numerous websites that go over welding versus brazing versus soldering. Other than manufacturers of products that contribute to soft solder, almost everyone else agrees brazing is a stronger joint.

    We connsider the installation of air-to-air heat pumps in our home. Mitsubishi Hyper Heating (MFZ-KW?) with floor mounted consoles seems to be a good option. We want to install 2 multisplit units connected to 2 indoor consoles each, for reasons of redunancy, we would place one indoor unit of each heatpump in our living room. We would like to know if it is possible to control 2 indoor units that are connected to a different heatpump with one and the same wall mounted controller. If possible, we would prefer it over using a handheld remote control. Please let us know if (and how) this is possible and what the implied cost might be. I'm concerned about the 410a phase out, which will be a ban on Jan 1 2025 I believe. Im in the market NOW for 2 mini split heat pumps. I pretty much decided on 2 that had the features and price I liked… Frontier Diamonte with inverter, 9k and 12k btu's. However, then I read about the phase out of 410a. Some online are saying its a big deal, that 410a will be hard to find and very expensive, while others including local HVAC techs and an online Frontier representative say it won't make much difference for 25 yrs! I've seen a few (very few) R32 units online (Daikin I think was a leader in R32 in US) but they cost way more than the Diamonte's I was so interested in. All else equal I'd definitely go with the R32, but do you think it will make much difference? I probably need two separate units and hope to find them for under $1200.00 each! i expect there will be many options in R32 very soon, so I am hesitant to buy right now even though I am in real need of new units.
